Job Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Ophthalmic Technician, where your passion for patient care and eye health will make a meaningful difference. In this vital role, you will assist ophthalmologists in delivering exceptional eye care services, perform comprehensive patient assessments, and support clinical operations with precision and professionalism. Your expertise in optical procedures, medical terminology, and anatomy will help ensure smooth clinic workflows and outstanding patient experiences. Duties Conduct thorough patient intake, including collecting medical history and explaining procedures clearly to ensure comfort and understanding Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen saturation to assist in clinical assessments Perform ophthalmic testing procedures like visual acuity tests, intraocular pressure measurements, and slit-lamp examinations using aseptic techniques Assist ophthalmologists during examinations and minor procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) such as Epic, ensuring accurate documentation of patient information, test results, and treatment plans Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage in compliance with HIPAA regulations, and handling patient inquiries with professionalism Maintain optical equipment calibration and cleanliness while adhering to infection control protocols to uphold safety standards Qualifications Prior experience in an ophthalmic office settings or clinic environments is required Strong knowledge of ophthalmology principles, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology Familiarity with EMR systems like Epic or similar platforms for efficient record management Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate clearly and empathetically Ability to perform intake assessments, vital signs measurement, and aseptic techniques accurately Knowledge of medical coding and billing processes related to ophthalmic services is advantageous Embark on a rewarding career where your skills directly contribute to restoring vision and enhancing lives.
