This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working directly with patients in a fast-paced clinical environment and is interested in ophthalmology/optometry and medical eye care. This is a smoke free environment. The Optometric Technician plays an important role in patient care by assisting providers with examinations, diagnostic testing, patient education, and clinical procedures. Responsibilities Triage ocular emergencies and urgent patient concerns Obtain patient medical and ocular histories Measure intraocular pressure using iCare and NCT tonometry Perform ancillary diagnostic testing including: OCT imaging Fundus photography ERGs Administer dilation drops and other ophthalmic medications as directed Obtain prior authorizations for medications and procedures Communicate with patients regarding appointments, testing, and treatment plans Prepare and clean exam rooms between patients Assist providers with amniotic membrane placement and other minimally invasive procedures Perform contact lens insertion and removal (I&R) teaching Maintain accurate documentation within the electronic medical record Support providers and staff to ensure efficient patient flow Qualifications Prior ophthalmic or optometric technician experience preferred Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a busy clinical setting Comfortable learning medical terminology and ophthalmic equipment Detail-oriented and dependable Experience with EMR systems preferred Benefits Paid time off Health insurance 401K after 1 year of employment Employee discounts Paid training Opportunities for advancement Schedule Monday to Friday and occasional Saturday morning.
