Job Description
BostonSight is a nonprofit eye healthcare organization that advances the treatment of irregular corneas and ocular surface disease through specialty lenses. Founded in 1992, the Needham, MA Center of Excellence includes a clinic, research center, state-of-the-art FDA-certified and ISO-compliant manufacturing lab, and patient and family support center. BostonSight PROSE® Treatment is available at top medical centers in the U.S., Canada, Europe, and India. BostonSight SCLERAL®, our commercially available scleral lens, was launched to expand access to global scleral lens technology.
POSITION SUMMARY
The BostonSight Lab Technician is responsible for the day-to-day order processing and custom fabrication of the scleral lens medical device. This position is responsible for working as part of a team to manufacture devices and meet our quality standards and on-time delivery goals for our patients being seen both in-house and at our provider network clinics. The initial training period for this position will occur during the day / first shift. After a few weeks of training, the work hours will move to the second shift (regularly 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm).EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Associates degree or equivalent preferred 3-5 years of previous lab experience preferred Some experience with FDA compliance and ISO 13485, medical device regulations preferred T raining will be provided to all new employees on the required skills and abilities listed below. A training and competency review will be performed for each new employee 90 days after initial onboarding and training is completed.ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Proficiency in the use of various inspection equipment and gauges Microscope- for lens inspection and modification Radiuscope
- for lens radius measurement and verification Lensometer
- for lens power measurement and verification Thickness gauge
- for lens center thickness measurement and verification Demonstrated computer literacy Team-oriented; ability to participate and contribute to team planning, problem solving and continuous quality improvement programs Well-organized with attention to detail.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Complete equipment startup and shut down operations as needed Process work orders in accordance with written work instructions and order requirements Cut, edge finish, modify, inspect, engrave, plasma and package product based on BostonSight and regulatory agencies standards. Meet production volume goals while observing quality and on-time requirements, all as established and updated from time to time by supervisor Respond promptly to special requests by supervisor for re-ordered priorities Complete all required reporting and logs by the end of the workday Clean and organize your work area throughout the workday, contributing to overall lab cleanliness and organization Satisfactorily complete all required training as determined by supervisor Be flexible with regard to work schedule and day to day assignments Be consistent and reliable with scheduled hours and with focus on job requirements Contribute to any other areas of BostonSight operations when requested and when approved by your supervisor Participate in meeting regulatory requirements The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
