Job Description

Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Optical Lab Technician to join our optical team. The Lab Technician is responsible for assembling and finishing eyeglasses accurately and efficiently according to prescription specifications. This role requires travel between all three of our locations (Bowie, Gambrills, and Annapolis) based on business needs. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with lab equipment, has strong attention to detail, and is flexible with location and scheduling.
Key Responsibilities:
Fabricate, edge, and assemble prescription lenses into eyeglass frames using lab equipment. Inspect lenses for accuracy using lensometers and other measuring devices. Ensure proper alignment and quality of finished glasses before delivery to patients. Perform basic repairs and adjustments to eyeglasses. Maintain lab equipment and ensure cleanliness and safety of the lab area. Follow proper handling and storage procedures for all lab supplies and lenses. Communicate with opticians and front desk staff about order status, delays, or issues. Track and manage job tickets through the lab workflow. Maintain inventory of lenses, frames, and lab materials. Travel between all three store locations as scheduled to support lab operations.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required. Previous experience in an optical lab or eyeglass fabrication strongly preferred. Familiarity with lensometers, edgers, and other optical equipment. Strong attention to detail and ability to work with precision. Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. Ability to multitask and manage time efficiently. Basic understanding of lens types, coatings, and prescriptions. Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between locations. Flexible and adaptable to changing workflow needs.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand for extended periods. Use of hands to handle tools, lenses, and equipment. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
