Job Description

Horizon Eye Physicians at Baltimore Washington Eye Center provides quality ophthalmology services including laser assisted cataract surgery, advanced technology lens implants (IOL), EVO ICL, corneal treatments and refractive surgery. We perform comprehensive medical exams to evaluate and treat cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetes, blepharitis & dry eye, as well corneal issues. We also perform routine vision exams including eyeglasses and contact lenses. Our practice and our clinic are under new management. Responsibilities:
Measuring and recording visual acuity History taking Performing accurate manifest Refractions Accurate assessment of extra ocular muscles, confrontational VF, pupils, and angles, phorias, tropias. Performing Goldman applanation tonometry, ICare and/or tonopen Perform diagnostic tests: OCT (optical coherence tomography), Humphrey Visual Field, auto refractor/OPD, corneal pachymeter, IOL master, Lipiscan, Fundus Photography, keratometry and topography. Thorough and accurate data collection/review and entry in a timely manner. Ability to work individually and as a team member. Willing to perform other duties as needed to improve the flow of the clinic Assess fit of contact lenses in established wearers. Responsible for maintenance and stocking of exam rooms Complete prior authorizations and prescription refills as authorized by the physician with complete and accurate documentation in the patient's chart. Educate patients with administration of prescribed medications and follow up instructions Triage phone messages from patients, complete fax/tasks requests in timely manner
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED A minimum of 1 year experience as an Ophthalmic Assistant/Technician preferred but not required Experience with contact lenses a plus Medical terminology knowledge Strong attention to detail Experience with EMR tools Excellent verbal and written skills Positive attitude and great customer service Strong work ethic Travel between offices may be required
