We are a premier ophthalmology and vision correction practice specializing in advanced cataract surgery, refractive surgery including SMILE Pro, LASIK, EVO ICL, refractive lens exchange, and comprehensive eye care. Position Summary The Ophthalmic Technician serves as an integral member of the clinical team, providing comprehensive patient workups, diagnostic testing, patient education, and physician support. The ideal candidate demonstrates professionalism, strong communication skills, technical proficiency, and a commitment to excellence. Primary Responsibilities Patient Care & Clinical Support Welcome patients and ensure a positive, efficient clinical experience. Obtain and document comprehensive patient histories, including medications, allergies, chief complaints, and relevant medical information. Accurately enter clinical information into the electronic health record (EHR). Perform preliminary ophthalmic examinations and assessments. Educate patients regarding procedures, testing, treatment plans, and postoperative care. Diagnostic Testing Perform and document ophthalmic testing including: Visual acuity assessment Refraction Lensometry Tonometry Pupillary evaluation Extraocular motility testing Visual field testing Corneal topography Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) Biometry Pachymetry Fundus photography Anterior segment imaging Dry eye diagnostics Other specialized testing as required Physician & Surgical Support Prepare patients for physician examinations and consultations. Assist physicians during office procedures and treatments. Assist with surgical procedures including cataract, pterygium, chalazion/stye, and laser procedures. Prepare instruments, supplies, and procedure rooms. Ensure proper sterilization and infection control protocols are maintained. Participate in surgical patient education and postoperative follow-up. Equipment & Facility Maintenance Maintain examination rooms and diagnostic equipment. Perform routine equipment cleaning and quality checks. Ensure testing areas remain organized and operational. Assist with inventory management and supply ordering. Team Support Assist front desk staff as needed. Coordinate patient flow to maximize efficiency and patient satisfaction. Collaborate effectively with physicians, technicians, surgical counselors, and administrative staff. Participate in staff meetings and ongoing training programs. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications Required High school diploma or equivalent. BLS certification. Minimum 2 years of medical office experience. Strong computer skills and ability to learn electronic health record systems. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Exceptional organizational and multitasking abilities. Professional demeanor and appearance. Strong attention to detail. Demonstrated reliability and dependability. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Commitment to delivering outstanding patient care. Preferred Previous ophthalmology or optometry experience. JCAHPO certification (COA, COT, or COMT). Experience with refractive surgery, cataract surgery, or premium IOL evaluations. Experience performing advanced ophthalmic diagnostic testing. Candidates without certification may be considered but will be expected to pursue JCAHPO certification within one year of employment. What Makes Envue Different?
