Job Description

Job Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Optometric Assistant, where your enthusiasm and dedication will directly enhance patient experiences and support the smooth operation of our optometry practice. In this vital role, you will be the first point of contact for patients, assisting with their needs from intake to post-exam care. Your expertise in medical records, patient care, and optical procedures will contribute to delivering exceptional eye care services. Duties Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with the intake process efficiently Prepare examination rooms by maintaining aseptic technique and ensuring all optical equipment is sanitized and ready for use Assist the optometrist during eye exams by handling instruments and recording observations accurately Manage medical records and documentation using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic or similar platforms Support front desk operations including scheduling appointments, answering patient inquiries, and managing patient flow Perform optical duties such as assisting with frame selection, lens measurements, and retail sales of eyewear products Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information at all times Support billing and coding processes related to medical procedures and eyewear sales when necessary Educate patients on eye health, contact lens care, and available products to enhance their overall experience Requirements Prior experience in medical office settings or ophthalmology clinics is highly preferred Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to eye health and ophthalmology procedures Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic or other healthcare software platforms Experience with optical equipment, frame fitting, or retail sales of eyewear is a plus Ability to perform vital signs measurement accurately and maintain aseptic technique during procedures Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times Excellent communication skills for effective patient interaction and team collaboration Basic knowledge of medical coding and billing processes related to ophthalmic services is advantageous A proactive attitude with strong organizational skills to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently Join us in making a difference by providing compassionate eye care support that improves lives! Pay:
$18.50 - $21.00 per hour
