Job Description

Job Overview We are a private ophthalmology practice with locations in both Farmington Hills and West Bloomfield seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in assisting ophthalmologists in providing high-quality eye care. This position requires a strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced medical office environment. The Ophthalmic Technician will be responsible for maintaining accurate medical records, performing various clinical tasks including but not limited to checking visual acuity, Goldmann tonometry, manual refractions, measuring pupils and checking muscle balance. Experience with contact lenses a plus but not required. Responsibilities Assist ophthalmologists during examinations and procedures, ensuring a smooth workflow. Conduct preliminary tests such as visual acuity assessments, tonometry, and pupil dilation. Gather and document patient medical histories while adhering to HIPAA regulations. Prepare and maintain accurate medical records using electronic health record systems as well as paper charting. Collaborate with the medical team to ensure optimal patient care and satisfaction. Qualifications Experience as an Ophthalmic Technician is required. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and basic ophthalmic procedures. Proficiency in using electronic health record systems; experience with ModMed is desirable but not required. Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact compassionately with patients of all ages. Attention to detail and strong organizational skills are essential for maintaining accurate records. Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining professionalism.
