Job Description

Scheurer Ophthalmology Clinic Ophthalmic Technician Full Time - 80 hours/pay Full Benefits 8:00AM - 5:00PM M-F Scheurer Health, is seeking a full-time Ophthalmic Technician.
Responsibilities:
Perform various tests and procedures to evaluate the patient's vision and eye health Measure visual acuity and test eye muscle function Administer eye drops to dilate pupils Maintain and calibrate ophthalmic equipment Prepare patients for surgery and assist with pre- and post-operative care instructions Schedule surgeries and coordinate with surgical teams to ensure timely procedures Obtain prior authorizations and manage referrals for surgical and specialty care Communicate with patients regarding appointment details, insurance approvals, and follow-up instructions Provide patient education on eye care, medications, and treatment options Assist ophthalmologists in diagnosing and treating eye diseases and disorders Document patient information and test results accurately in the electronic medical record Ensure patient comfort and safety during procedures Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive patient care
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent Completion of an accredited ophthalmic technician program Certification as an ophthalmic technician (COT) preferred Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills Ability to work well in a team environment Experience with ophthalmic equipment and procedures Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy Ability to maintain patient confidentiality
