The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in eye care procedures, patient interaction, and medical office operations. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting ophthalmologists by performing diagnostic tests, assisting with patient examinations, and ensuring efficient clinic workflows. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to high-quality eye care while developing your expertise in ophthalmology and medical technology. Duties Conduct comprehensive patient intake, including gathering medical history and explaining procedures clearly. Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen saturation to assist in patient assessment. Perform diagnostic tests including visual acuity assessments, intraocular pressure measurements, and slit-lamp examinations using aseptic technique. Assist ophthalmologists during examinations and minor procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety. Manage medical records accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Optivate Health. Maintain clinic cleanliness and adhere to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality. Educate patients on eye health, medication usage, and post-procedure care to promote optimal outcomes. Skills Strong knowledge of ophthalmology practices, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to eye care. Experience with optical equipment and diagnostic testing devices used in eye clinics. Proficiency in medical office systems including EMR platforms like Epic or similar software. Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively and compassionately with diverse populations, including pediatrics. Familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards and aseptic techniques for infection control. Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
