Position Overview The Optometric Technician plays a key role in supporting the optometrist by performing preliminary testing, preparing patients for exams, and ensuring smooth clinic flow. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a high-volume setting and enjoys working directly with patients. Key Responsibilities Greet and escort patients to exam rooms in a friendly and professional manner Perform pre-testing procedures including: Visual acuity Auto-refraction Tonometry (IOP) Retinal imaging (OCT, fundus photography) Visual field testing Accurately document patient history and chief complaints Prepare exam rooms and maintain cleanliness and organization Assist the optometrist during exams as needed Educate patients on procedures and basic eye care instructions Manage patient flow to ensure efficiency and minimal wait times Support front desk or optical team when needed Qualifications Prior experience in optometry or ophthalmology preferred (but willing to train the right candidate) Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to multitask in a high-volume environment Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills Basic computer proficiency (EHR experience a plus) Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset Preferred Skills Experience with EHR systems Knowledge of medical terminology and vision insurance Familiarity with diagnostic equipment (OCT, autorefractor, visual field) Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly pay (based on experience) Bonus opportunities Health benefits (if full-time) Paid time off Employee and family discounts on eyewear Why Join Us?
