Job Description

As an Ophthalmology Assistant at Insight Vision Care, you will provide critical support to the clinical team by assisting with patient care, performing diagnostic testing, and ensuring smooth clinical operations. This role also includes cross-training in front desk and scribe duties to ensure flexibility and a cohesive team environment. Key Responsibilities and Duties Clinical Duties Perform patient workups, including taking detailed medical and ocular histories. Conduct diagnostic tests such as visual acuity, tonometry, visual fields, OCT, and fundus photography. Administer eye drops, dilating drops, and other medications as directed by the provider. Assist providers during examinations and minor procedures, ensuring patient comfort and efficiency. Maintain and calibrate ophthalmic instruments and equipment as required. Patient Education Educate patients on medications, treatments, and postoperative care. Provide guidance on the proper use of eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other visual aids. Answer patient questions and address concerns with professionalism and empathy. Additional Responsibilities Employees are expected to assist with additional tasks and responsibilities as needed to support the overall success and efficiency of the team and organization. Experience Knowledge of ophthalmology or optometry practices, including understanding anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to eye health. Familiarity with EMR systems. Strong understanding of medical coding and billing processes specific to ophthalmology or optometry services. Experience in retail sales or customer service roles enhances the ability to engage with patients effectively.
Pay:
$25.00 - $30.00 per hour
