In this energetic role, you will support optometrists by preparing patients for exams, assisting with testing procedures, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. Your enthusiasm and attention to detail will help create a welcoming environment where patients feel cared for and confident in their eye health journey. This paid position offers the opportunity to develop your skills in ophthalmology, medical records management, and patient care within a fast-paced, supportive setting. Hours are 8am-5pm Monday through Friday. No weekends. Duties Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with intake procedures to ensure accurate medical records. Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and visual acuity to support comprehensive eye examinations. Prepare patients for exams by performing preliminary tests including refraction, tonometry, and other diagnostic procedures. Maintain aseptic techniques during testing and equipment sterilization to uphold safety standards and HIPAA compliance. Assist optometrists during examinations by handling medical terminology documentation and recording findings in electronic medical record (EMR) systems like Epic. Manage front desk responsibilities including scheduling appointments, answering patient inquiries, and processing payments using retail math skills. Support optical services by helping with frame selection, lens ordering, and retail sales to enhance patient satisfaction. Qualifications Prior experience in medical office settings or ophthalmology clinics is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and ophthalmic procedures. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic or similar platforms is essential for documentation accuracy. Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Excellent communication skills for patient care, intake processes, and team collaboration. Ability to perform vital signs measurement accurately and maintain aseptic technique throughout procedures. Retail sales experience and proficiency in front desk operations are advantageous for supporting clinic functions.
