Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Receptionist/Technician to join our healthcare team. This vital role combines front desk administrative support with clinical assistance, ensuring smooth operations within the optometry practice. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills. Experience with customer service and/or electronic medical records and optometry technical procedures are all helpful, but not required, as we will train the right person. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to patient care while maintaining efficient office workflows and providing exceptional customer service. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and manage appointment scheduling using EMR system (OfficeMate.) Perform patient intake procedures, including collecting medical history and updating personal information accurately. Assist with clinical tasks such as preliminary vision testing, data entry, and documentation review to support optometrists during examinations. Maintain organized medical records and ensure confidentiality of patient information in accordance with health information management standards. Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette and provide exceptional patient service at the front desk. Support clinic operations by managing office supplies, filing documents, and assisting with administrative tasks using Microsoft Office and optometric office management software (OfficeMate). Preferred, but not required, skills/experience: Prior experience in a medical or dental office setting with proficiency in clinic management and medical administrative support. Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems. Excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office. Exceptional customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and effective communication abilities. Previous experience working in an optometry or ophthalmology clinic is preferred; dental clinic experience is a plus but not required. Ability to handle sensitive information in compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality at all times.
