The Medical Eye Center is seeking a motivated and resilient Ophthalmic Assistant/Scribe to join our team based out of our southern New Hampshire offices. In this role, you will work closely with a provider, providing direct patient care while also documenting patient encounters in real-time within the electronic medical record (EMR). This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys being challenged, learns quickly, and takes pride in producing accurate, high-quality work. The ideal candidate is confident, receptive to feedback, and able to maintain professionalism and composure in a demanding clinical environment. No ophthalmology experience? That's okay! We are willing to train the right candidate who demonstrates strong computer skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to learn quickly. As an Ophthalmic Assistant / Scribe, you will: Promptly and professionally assist the physician in patient care. Perform technical workups, collect and record patient history, exam results, and observations in the EMR. Accurately document patient encounters in real-time during examinations, including medical history, diagnoses, treatment plans, procedures, and prescriptions. Assist the physician with EMR navigation and documentation to ensure efficient patient flow. Communicate with patients regarding follow-up care, surgeries, procedures, scheduling changes, symptoms, and treatment plans. Maintain and clean ophthalmic equipment and report any maintenance concerns. Assist with patient phone calls related to clinic questions and concerns. Perform and administer ophthalmic testing and diagnostic procedures. Review documentation for completeness and accuracy while maintaining strict patient confidentiality. To be successful in this role, you will need: High School Diploma or GED. Strong computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office. A minimum typing speed of 65 words per minute. Candidates may be asked to complete a typing assessment during the hiring process. Excellent attention to detail and the ability to accurately document information while listening and multitasking. Strong verbal and written communication skills. The ability to receive constructive feedback professionally and use it as an opportunity for growth. A confident, resilient personality with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-expectation clinical environment. The ability to stay organized, focused, and accurate under pressure. Experience in ophthalmology or healthcare is a plus, but not required. Experience using Epic or other EMR systems is a plus.
