Who You Are:
Amoskeag Health is seeking a detail-oriented and patient-focused Ophthalmic Technician who thrives in a fast-paced clinical environment. You bring strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with both patients and care teams. You are comfortable using computers and adapting to daily workflow needs, and you take a proactive, team-oriented approach to supporting efficient clinic operations.
What You'll Do:
History taking with documentation including a full medical and ophthalmic patient history with current medications, allergies and review of patient general medical history (surgeries, review of systems), chief complaint and pain assessment Patient assessment and documentation including blood pressure, lensometry, autorefraction, tonometry with iCare, pupil testing, confrontation visual field, stereo evaluation, color vision examination, and EOM testing Visual Acuity testing: Distance and Near evaluation, Pinhole Fundus photography, OCT testing, and Humphrey Visual Field Assist Optometrist with patient care Instillation of eye drops as needed Management of ophthalmic medication including inventory and quality control
Optical:
Assist patient in selection of frames, measurements/fit, ordering, dispensing, and minor fitting adjustments; place orders for glasses with frames/lens vendors. Exam room preparation/closing including disinfecting tools/room Oversight of medication refrigeration daily temperature logs Monthly optical invoice verifications and oversight of eyeglass purchases Conduct patient outreach to improve and increase Optometry-related quality initiatives; Daily patient appointment telephone reminders Oversight and management of Eye Care Center's electronic health record patient cases/desktop; documentation of all patient communication as appropriate. Appropriately and accurately enter orders in the EMR for billing insurance purposes; Conduct insurance verification as appropriate Attends mandatory safety-related and infection control trainings as designated by the Senior Management Team. Patient communication including, but not limited to: Handling all incoming calls, make/change appointments, referral issues, refill requests, and glasses arrival. Reschedule patients when providers are out and call patients regarding test result follow-up (non-complex). Manage all walk-ins for an initial assessment of purpose/need. Follow up no shows, future flag reminders, and handle patients requesting letters.
