Job Description

Holmdel Eye Center is a growing ophthalmology practice in Holmdel, NJ dedicated to delivering high-quality surgical and medical eye care to the Monmouth County community. We are building something special here and looking for the right person to grow with us from the ground up. This is a rare opportunity to join a practice at an exciting stage, where your work matters, your voice is heard, and you are not just a number on a roster. We need a skilled, detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician who knows the equipment, knows the workflow, and is ready to hit the ground running. Schedule Monday, Tuesday, Friday 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM (required) Thursday 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM (as needed, based on patient volume) Total weekly hours: 24 to 32 What You Will Do Perform comprehensive patient workups including visual acuity, refraction, tonometry (IOP), and color vision testing Operate diagnostic equipment including OCT, visual fields, fundus camera, auto-refractor, and slit lamp independently and with confidence Administer dilating drops and accurately document patient medications, allergies, and chief complaints Prepare exam lanes and complete accurate EHR documentation prior to physician entry Assist physician during minor in-office procedures as needed Educate patients on pre- and post-operative instructions and medication schedules Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked exam rooms throughout the day Coordinate with the front desk to manage patient flow and minimize wait times Requirements 2 or more years of ophthalmic technician or ophthalmic assistant experience (required) Must have direct, hands-on experience operating OCT, visual fields, fundus camera, auto-refractor, and slit lamp, no exceptions Experience with EHR or EMR systems; Modernizing Medicine (Modmed) experience a strong plus COA, COT, or CPOT certification preferred, not required Strong communication skills and a calm, patient-first demeanor Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume clinical setting Reliable transportation to Holmdel, NJ (in-person role) Must be willing to submit to and pass a background check prior to start Preferred Qualifications COA or COT certification Modernizing Medicine (Modmed) EHR experience Bilingual in Spanish and English a plus Surgical assist experience Compensation & Why Join Us $23 to $27 per hour, based on experience and certification Schedule flexibility with potential to grow hours as practice volume increases Be part of a practice being built from the ground up, where your contributions are recognized and your growth is real Submit your resume and a brief note on your ophthalmic experience and equipment proficiency.
