Job Summary Join our dynamic healthcare team as an Optometric Technician/Receptionist, where your energetic and compassionate approach will make a meaningful difference in patients' lives. In this vital role, you will provide exceptional patient care, assist with optical and ophthalmology procedures, and ensure smooth clinic operations. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly, verify insurance information, and perform intake procedures to ensure accurate patient records. Assist with optical testing, including refraction and visual acuity exams, utilizing ophthalmology and physiology knowledge. Maintain patient confidentiality by adhering to HIPAA regulations and safeguarding medical records using EMR systems like Epic or similar platforms. Prepare exam rooms using aseptic techniques, ensuring all equipment is sanitized and ready for use. Support the clinical team by managing appointment scheduling at the front desk, answering phone inquiries, and coordinating follow-up visits. Engage in retail sales of eyewear products, applying retail math skills to recommend suitable frames and lenses while providing excellent customer service. Assist with medical billing and coding processes related to optometry services to ensure accurate documentation and reimbursement. Keep detailed records of medical history, clinic notes, and treatment plans in compliance with healthcare standards. Contribute to a positive clinic environment by demonstrating teamwork, professionalism, and enthusiasm for patient care. Qualifications Prior experience in medical office settings or ophthalmology clinics is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and ophthalmology procedures. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic or similar electronic health record platforms. Experience with medical billing, coding, and insurance claims processing is advantageous. Excellent communication skills for front desk duties and patient interactions. Ability to perform vital signs measurement accurately and maintain aseptic technique during clinical procedures. Retail sales experience combined with retail math skills to assist patients in selecting eyewear products. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security at all times.
