$2,000•$2,800 (Based on Experience) Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) to support surgical teams specializing in Ophthalmology, ENT, and Plastic Surgery procedures. The Surgical Technologist will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse and surgical team members to maintain a safe, sterile, and efficient operating room environment while assisting throughout the perioperative process. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to patient safety and surgical excellence. Responsibilities Surgical Scrub Duties Perform surgical scrub, gowning, and gloving procedures in accordance with established sterile techniques. Prepare and organize sterile instrument tables, supplies, and equipment based on procedural requirements. Assist with patient draping and preparation of the operative field. Anticipate surgeon needs by providing instruments, sutures, sponges, and supplies throughout procedures. Maintain continuous awareness of surgical progress and respond appropriately to changing procedural needs. Observe patients throughout procedures and remain prepared for emergency situations. Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts with the circulating nurse and report discrepancies immediately. Maintain strict aseptic technique and implement corrective actions when contamination occurs. Handle surgical specimens according to established protocols. Assist with dressings, drainage systems, and patient transfers. Operating Room Support Assemble and prepare all supplies, equipment, and instruments necessary for surgical procedures. Assist with patient positioning and application of safety devices and restraints. Support the maintenance of a safe and sterile operating room environment. Monitor traffic flow within the operating room and identify breaches in sterile technique. Assist with room turnover, cleaning, and preparation for subsequent procedures. Ensure proper handling, decontamination, and reprocessing of reusable instruments and equipment. Medication & Safety Support Assist Registered Nurses with preparation of medications and sterile solutions as permitted by policy. Properly label all medications, syringes, cups, and basins according to regulatory standards. Verify medication information with the administering provider. Maintain medication vials and ampules until the conclusion of the procedure. Announce medication details clearly before administration. Adhere to all policies regarding controlled substances and narcotics. Department Operations Assist with patient transportation to and from the surgical suite. Monitor supply levels and communicate inventory needs. Report equipment or instrumentation concerns to leadership. Help maintain organized sterile storage and operating room areas. Assist with updating surgeon preference cards and procedural documentation. Required Qualifications Education High School Diploma or equivalent required. Completion of an accredited Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Training Program required. Coursework in Operating Room Technology, Science, Biology, or Chemistry preferred. Certifications Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Certification required. Operating Room Technology Certification preferred. Experience Previous Operating Room experience preferred. Experience supporting Ophthalmology, ENT, and Plastic Surgery procedures preferred. Required Skills & Competencies Strong understanding of aseptic technique and infection prevention standards. Knowledge of surgical instruments, equipment, and procedural workflows. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to read, write, understand, and communicate effectively in English. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Physical stamina and manual dexterity required for surgical support duties. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced surgical environment. Commitment to patient safety, quality care, and teamwork. Work Environment Surgical Services / Operating Room Setting. Exposure to a variety of surgical specialties, technologies, and clinical environments. Requires standing for extended periods and handling surgical equipment and supplies.
