Job Description

Key Responsibilities Patient Navigation:
Serve as the primary point of contact for patients scheduling cataract and glaucoma surgeries, explaining the process, timelines, and pre-/post-operative instructions with clarity and care.
Scheduling & Coordination:
Coordinate surgical dates and times between the patient, our physicians, and the ambulatory surgery center (ASC) or hospital.
Insurance Verification & Authorization:
Obtain prior authorizations for surgical procedures and specialized premium lenses (IOLs) or glaucoma implants.
Documentation:
Ensure all pre-operative clearance paperwork, history and physicals (H&Ps), and consent forms are completed accurately and submitted on time.
Qualifications Experience:
Minimum 1-2 years of experience in medical surgical coordinating (ophthalmology or optometry experience is highly preferred).
Knowledge:
Familiarity with ophthalmic terminology, cataract/glaucoma procedures, and major medical insurance authorization processes.
Skills:
Strong organizational skills, excellent phone etiquette, and proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) software.
