Responsibilities:
The Surgical Technician assists the Registered Professional Nurse by performing support activities in the operating room, focusing on maintaining aseptic technique throughout all surgical procedures. Responsibilities include performing surgical scrub, gowning, gloving, setting up sterile instrument tables, and anticipating surgeon needs for instruments, sutures, and supplies. The technician maintains correct counts of sponges, needles, and instruments with the circulating nurse, assists with patient draping and positioning, and helps with specimen handling, dressing application, and room decontamination.
Required Education:
High School diploma required. Courses in operating room technology, science, biology, and chemistry preferred.
Required Certifications & Licensure:
BLS from
AHA CST CERTIFICATION REQUIRED
Certified CST Training Program required
Required Skills & Experience:
SCRUBBING EXPERIENCE IN OPHTHALMOLOGY, ENT, PLASTICS AT LEAST 2 YEARS OPERATING ROOM TECHNOLOGY, ASEPTIC TECHNIQUE, SURGICAL SCRUB, GOWNING AND GLOVING, STERILE INSTRUMENT SETUP PPE
