Ophthalmic Assistants provide vision care under the supervision of a licensed ophthalmologist and assist with taking patient histories, performing diagnostic tests and procedures, patient scheduling, and exam room preparation. A caregiver in this position works 7:00am to 5:00pm. A caregiver who excels in this role will: Perform clinical and technical ophthalmic duties and perform basic patient care as directed by a physician or supervisor. Receive and prepare patients for examination and treatment under the direction of a supervisor or physician. Perform routine screening tests and document patient information in the patient medical record. Stock and maintain exam rooms with equipment and supplies. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: High school diploma or GED One year of experience providing direct patient care under the supervision of an
Ophthalmologist Physical Requirements:
Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and PC. Ability to lift and transport up to 25 pounds. May require extended periods of standing, walking or sitting. Visual acuity, including the ability to distinguish colors.Personal Protective Equipment:
