Ophthalmic Technician The Cataract and Vision Center Pittsburgh, PA Job Details Full-time $15 - $28 an hour 16 hours ago Qualifications Direct patient care Teamwork Assisting with diagnostic tests and procedures Medical scheduling Managing patient records Full Job Description Job Overview The Cataract and Vision Center of Pittsburgh is seeking a dedicated, energetic, and patient focused Ophthalmic Technician to join our growing team. This is a dynamic role that extends beyond traditional ophthalmic technician responsibilities. While the primary focus will be providing excellent clinical support to our physician and patients, the successful candidate will also assist with various aspects of daily office operations including surgical scheduling, patient communications, front desk support, and administrative tasks as needed. We are a small, team oriented practice where every employee plays an important role in delivering an exceptional patient experience. The ideal candidate enjoys variety in their workday and is willing to assist wherever needed to support our patients and practice. ResponsibilitiesClinical Duties Obtain patient histories and document chief complaints Perform visual acuity testing, intraocular pressure measurements, pupil assessments, and other ophthalmic testing Prepare patients for examinations and assist the physician during evaluations and procedures Perform diagnostic testing including OCT, visual fields, biometry, corneal topography, and other ophthalmic imaging as needed Accurately document findings within the electronic medical record Educate patients regarding medications, treatment plans, and postoperative instructions Administrative and Practice Support Duties Assist with cataract surgery scheduling and coordination Answer incoming patient phone calls and assist with patient questions Support front desk operations including patient check in and check out Schedule appointments and help manage clinic flow Assist with insurance verification, prior authorizations, and other administrative functions as needed Help maintain an efficient and welcoming patient experience throughout the office Support team members in all aspects of practice operations as needed Qualifications Prior ophthalmic technician experience strongly preferred Experience with ophthalmic diagnostic equipment including OCT, visual fields, topography, or biometry preferred Strong communication skills and a patient centered approach Willingness to assist with clinical care, surgical scheduling, phones, and front desk responsibilities as needed Commitment to working as part of a close knit team focused on providing exceptional patient care Additional Information References will be required.
