Ophthalmic Technician (Medical Optometry / Specialty Contact Lens Clinic)
Visual acuity assessment: with and without correction, distance, near and intermediate, pinhole, best corrected, potential acuity, brightness acuity
Visual fields: Amsler grid & confrontation fields
Supplemental skills: Color testing, glare testAngle assessment & dilation of pupils.
Contact lenses: insertion, removal, and instructions.
Assist with maintaining office inventory, notifying appropriate staff when supplies are needed, restocking exam rooms, cleaning and sterilizing of instruments and cleaning patient exam rooms at end of day.
Travel to other clinical sites. High school diploma or equivalent is required. Experience as an Ophthalmic Technician in an Ophthalmology office or combination of related education and/or experience preferred. Completion of AAO Home Study Course is preferred. Prior optometric or ophthalmic experience preferred.

In this role, the technician will assist providers with patient examinations, perform ophthalmic testing, support specialty contact lens services, and help ensure a smooth and positive patient experience. This position offers daylight hours, Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with no evenings or weekends required. Travel to other locations is extremely limited (less than 5%), though flexibility to support other departments within the building as needed is expected. History taking to include ocular, medical, medication, social and family.Visual acuity assessment: with and without correction, distance, near and intermediate, pinhole, best corrected, potential acuity, brightness acuity
Lensometry:
automated and manualPupillary assessment: measurement, compare and evaluate.Visual fields: Amsler grid & confrontation fields
Ocular Motility:
Knowledge of the functions & anomalies, cover tests, stereo-acuity, nystagmusRefractometry:
auto-refractor, transposing scripts from + to -Tonometry:
ICare, Tonopen and the care and proper disinfection of each.Supplemental skills: Color testing, glare testAngle assessment & dilation of pupils.
