Job Description
Jervey Eye Group, the Upstate's premier Ophthalmology practice, is looking for a great candidate to join our team as an Ophthalmic Tester. An Ophthalmic Tester is a valuable asset as they assist in providing excellent patient care to the patients during their visit. An Ophthalmic Diagnostic Tester is able to handle a wide range of duties while using equipment to perform the initial testing needed to prepare a patient for an exam. Ophthalmic Tester Responsibilities Visual Fields Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) A-Scan and manual Keratometry Ocular Biometry Fundus and optic nerve photography Corneal Topography B-scans Performs technical workups, patient interviews and special testing. Maintains and sanitizes all equipment being used. Maintains patient confidentiality per HIPPA and all state and federal regulations. Ophthalmic Assistant Minimum Requirements High school diploma or GED. 1 year of Ophthalmology experience. Willingness to be flexible in job assignment (location, provider, etc.). Certified Ophthalmic Assistant or Certified Ophthalmic Technician preferred. Ophthalmic Assistant Minimum Demonstrated Skills Efficiently and accurately interviews patients and documents histories. Consistently works with 40 patients per day. Demonstrates working knowledge of eye anatomy, disease, symptoms and ocular meds. Has a basic knowledge of contact lenses. Utilizes proper eyedrop technique and sterility. Understands and uses proper sterile techniques. Utilizes proper universal precaution procedures. Understands and follows procedures for surgical and procedural consents. Scribes readily when doctor desires. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high volume environment.
Ophthalmic Tester Required Skills/Abilities:
Accurately performs: Refractions, Lensometry, Keratometry, Tonometry, Visual fields, Amslers, Muscle testing, Pupil exams, Topography, and other Diagnostic Testing. Ability to communicate across interdisciplinary team of physicians and staff members. Must be able to multitask and take initiative. Excellent customer service skills both written and verbal. Strong problem-solving skills. Maintain patient confidentiality. Requires skills in operating computers, electronic health record software, fax machines and copier machines.
