Job Description

TITLE:
Optometric Technician We are a busy five doctor optometric practice that provides high quality, family-oriented eye care to our patients. Our office is a familial work setting and provides our employees a friendly work environment. We work hard and yet incorporate an attitude of cooperation that leads to a team that can accommodate the needs of our patients. We are seeking a friendly, outgoing, professional, ambitious person to join our team.
Optometric Technician duties and responsibilities:
Provide exceptional patient care clinically and by creating a customer/patient service experience that is phenomenal for each and every patient. Acquire medical history and chief complaints of patients, prepare patient charts, and ensure confidentiality of all records. Introduce yourself and ask open-ended questions about what brought the patient in today. Explain the pre-tests you will perform prior to or while performing it. Perform auto refraction and other appropriate pretests such as tonometry, Color Vision, VA's, etc. Enter diagnosis and all pretest findings into the EHR system. Assist patients with the dilation process. Clean all instruments with alcohol prep-pads. Assist patients with contact lens education, insertion and removal training. Provide back-up billing support. Administrative duties for this position include faxing, copying, making phone calls, preparing patients' medical records, scanning, and entering extensive data in the office's computer system. Applicants should be extremely efficient, organized, and resourceful; must also be flexible and able to function well in a fast-paced environment with great interpersonal skills to deal with many personalities. A high school diploma with some college is preferred. Some training in eyecare is a plus. Our office hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 5:30pm and Saturdays from 7:30am to 12:00pm. We are looking for someone available 8:00am-5:45pm four days per week (day off TBD) and every other Saturday 7:00am-12:15pm.
