Job Description
- Job Overview
- We are seeking to fill 2 positions. One as a dedicated full time Optometric Technician & one as a full time split duty Optician/Optometric Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will assist us in providing excellent eye care services and support to our patients.

- Learn how to use EMR (Electronic Medical Record) software based on Windows operating system
- Must know/learn proper professional phone etiquette and how to triage and identify emergency eye conditions/symptoms and schedule patients
- Responsible for keeping waiting rooms, exam rooms, and optical areas clean and rotate through with the other staff in weekly deep cleaning all bathrooms approximately once every two months
- Assist front desk & optical duties when needed, including scheduling appointments and managing patient check-ins
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations
Specific Duties For Technicians:
- Conduct preliminary testing for patients, including auto-refraction, visual acuity, color vision, depth perception, and confrontational visual fields
- Assist with contact lens fittings, training, and instructions
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records
- Perform medical coding and billing tasks
- Support the optometrist during eye exams and procedures and input findings into chart Specific Duties for
Opticians:
- Perform frame and lens selections and pricing
- Take lens measurements and fill out optical orders
- Perform frame repair and adjustments for patients and dispense glasses and contact lenses
- Learn how to edge lenses using high end 3D digital equipment
- Skills needed
- Experience in a medical clinic or optical setting is preferred, but not necessary. We offer on-the-job training
- Knowledge of Windows-based programs on a PC is preferred
- Proficiency in typing/keyboarding is required
- Able to carry a small laptop from room to room all day
- Familiarity with optical terminology and procedures can be learned on-the-job
- Strong commitment to customer service is a must
- Ability to work effectively in a busy office setting with other employees as a team to serve patients in an efficient, yet thorough, manner
- Understanding of front desk operations in a healthcare setting is helpful, but can be taught
- Experience working with the public is preferred, but not required
- Must be friendly, like people, and like working with others to serve our community
- Must be available to travel up to a week at a time, away from family once per year for more advanced paid training to further knowledge and skill in eye care
