Job Description

Tennessee Retina is a leading ophthalmology practice in Middle Tennessee, providing advanced retinal care across multiple clinic locations. Our physicians and clinical teams are committed to delivering excellent patient care in a supportive, professional, and team-oriented environment. We are currently seeking a full-time Ophthalmic Technician / Ophthalmic Assistant to join our growing team. This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys working with patients, thrives in a fast-paced clinical setting, and wants to build a long-term career in eye care. The ideal candidate will be dependable, detail-oriented, compassionate, and eager to learn. Prior ophthalmology, optometry, or healthcare experience is helpful, but we are also open to training the right person who brings a strong work ethic and great patient service skills. What You'll Do In this role, you will support physicians and clinical staff by helping prepare patients for exams, performing testing, documenting patient information, and assisting with the flow of the clinic.
Responsibilities may include:
Greeting and preparing patients for exams Obtaining patient medical histories and documenting information accurately Performing patient workups and assisting with specialized diagnostic testing Capturing diagnostic images, including OCT and fundus photography Assisting physicians during patient visits and procedures as needed Scribing for physicians when appropriate Preparing and cleaning exam rooms and clinical areas Maintaining equipment, supplies, and stocked rooms Supporting general clinic operations in a high-volume environment Traveling to satellite clinic locations as needed Following all HIPAA, safety, and compliance procedures What We're Looking For We are looking for someone who is professional, patient-focused, and comfortable working as part of a busy clinical team.
Qualifications include:
High school diploma or equivalent required Previous ophthalmology, optometry, optical, or medical office experience preferred COA, COT, or related certification is a plus, but not required Strong attention to detail and accuracy with documentation Comfortable learning new clinical systems, equipment, and software Ability to communicate clearly with patients, physicians, and team members Positive attitude and willingness to learn Ability to stay organized and perform well in a fast-paced setting Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office and electronic medical records Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements Why Join Tennessee Retina?
