Our optometry practice is looking for a new Eye Care Technician to join our close-knit team. This is a hands-on role where you'll help patients feel welcomed and cared for from the moment they walk through our door — completing an accurate patient intake, helping with vision assessments, and supporting our doctors throughout the day. Responsibilities Conduct patient intake by collecting comprehensive medical histories while maintaining strict adherence to HIPAA regulations to protect patient privacy. Prepare patients for examinations by performing preliminary tests, including visual acuity assessments, intraocular pressure measurements, confrontational fields and more. Assist optometrists during examinations and minor procedures, ensuring all necessary instruments are ready for use. Maintain accurate medical records within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Crystal PM or other EMR platforms, ensuring data integrity and confidentiality. Support front desk operations by scheduling appointments and managing patient flow. Manage inventory of ophthalmic supplies, including contact lenses, glasses, and diagnostic tools, ensuring stock levels meet clinic needs. Educate patients on eye health, medication usage, and proper contact lens care while demonstrating excellent patient care skills. Experience Prior experience in a medical office setting with exposure to optometry is highly preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology related to the eye, and ophthalmic procedures is essential. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Crystal PM or similar platforms is required for accurate documentation. Experience in retail sales or front desk operations within a healthcare or retail environment is advantageous. Clinic experience involving pediatrics is a plus, demonstrating versatility in managing diverse patient populations. Strong organizational skills combined with attention to detail are necessary for maintaining precise medical records and supporting clinical workflows.
