Job Description
Overview Entry-level clinical role supporting ophthalmology patients and physicians. Paid, hands-on training provided. Role includes direct patient interaction, clinical support tasks, and travel between clinic locations. Key Responsibilities Escort patients to and from exam rooms Prepare and clean exam rooms between visits Support patient flow and clinic operations Gather patient histories and enter medical information Assist with diagnostic imaging and basic vision testing Support in-office procedures and treatments Educate and comfort patients during visits Travel between assigned clinic locations as needed Required Qualifications Valid Texas Driver's License Proof of active personal auto insurance Ability to work flexible hours (approximately 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM) Willingness to travel between clinic sites Strong communication and customer service skills Preferred Qualifications Medical Assistant experience or exposure to ophthalmology/clinical settings Customer service or patient-facing background Bilingual Spanish (plus, not required) Ideal Candidate Profile Long-term, career-focused mindset High empathy and compassion, especially toward elderly patients Strong professionalism and reliability Positive attitude and willingness to learn Strong interpersonal and communication skills Schedule Variable based on patient volume Start times as early as 7:00 AM; end times up to 6:00 PM No regular weekends or overtime expected Clinic Locations / Travel Coverage Central Texas region with travel between multiple sites, including: South Austin Round Rock Georgetown Bastrop Temple, Waco, Killeen Additional surrounding satellite clinics (e.g., San Marcos, Lakeway, Marble Falls) • We will consider for employment all qualified Applicants, including those with criminal histories, in a manner consistent with the requirements of applicable federal, state, and local laws, including the City of Los Angeles' Fair Chance Initiative for Hiring Ordinance (FCIHO), Los Angeles Fair Chance Ordinance for Employers (ULAC), The San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance (FCO), and the California Fair Chance Act (CFCA). • As a job position within our Allied division, a successful completion of a background check may be required as a condition of employment. This requirement is directly related to essential job functions including but not limited to: providing direct patient care, accessing medical and confidential records, accessing and administering prescription medication or other drugs, working within a clinical setting, handling sharp instruments, conducting medical procedures, and working within departments that care for vulnerable populations, such as, minors, elderly and those with physical or mental disabilities. Due to these job duties, this position has a significant impact on the business operations and reputation, as well as the safety and well-being of individuals who may be cared for as part of the job position or who may interact with staff or clients.
