In this energetic role, you will support ophthalmologists by performing patient care, preliminary testing, and clinical procedures that ensure smooth clinic operations. Duties Provide compassionate patient care by assisting with intake procedures and updating medical records while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Conduct preliminary assessments including visual acuity tests, intraocular pressure measurements, and slit-lamp examinations using optical and ophthalmic equipment. Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures clearly and ensuring proper aseptic technique during clinical tasks. Assist ophthalmologists during exams and minor procedures, ensuring all instruments and supplies are sterile and ready. Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems), accurately documenting patient information, test results, and clinical notes. Experience Prior experience in a medical office setting or ophthalmology clinic is highly preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology related to the eye, and ophthalmic procedures is essential. Familiarity with EMR systems is advantageous. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times. Experience with medical billing and coding related to ophthalmology is a plus. Demonstrated ability to perform clinical tasks such as conducting intake assessments and performing diagnostic testing on patients.
