Newman & Taub Vision Center is seeking an Ophthalmic Technician to join our great team in a float position between our two offices Dallas and Plano. Reliable transportation required. Are you detailed oriented, have minimum 1 year of experience in Ophthalmology, excellent communication and customer service skills, and electronic medical records, and proficient at multitasking, setting priorities, all while maintaining composure in a fast paced environment? Skills Summary In addition to general ophthalmic assistance Patient education on surgical options for medical procedures, drop/ointment regimen, pre and post-operative care, and activity restrictions Organization of clinic flow Phone triage for urgent cases, medication/appointment questions Patient correspondence via email Manage exam and minor room equipment and supplies Medication ordering Referral review and triage Physician liaison to outside facilities Insurance prior authorization for medications Patient counseling/education for medication and pre/post-operative surgery instructions Obtain patient medical, surgical, medication, family, and social history Obtain patient chief complaint and history of present illness Experience with the following diagnostic procedures: Visual acuity, Auto refraction, OPD, Manifest/cycloplegic refraction in both plus and minus cylinder, Refraction with trial lens/frame, contact lens over-refraction, Keratometry, lensometry, IOL master, A-scan immersion, tonometry, tonopen, stereopsis, color vision, pachymetry, Pentacam, extra-ocular motility testing, pupillary measurements, specular microscopy, BAT, prism, contrast sensitivity, glare testing, administration of ophthalmic drops and ointments, estimate anterior chamber depth, manual blood pressure and pulse measurement Exam and minor room equipment and supply maintenance 1 year experience cataract surgery practice preferred Plano and North Dallas area No Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive ophthalmic workups, including patient intake and assessment of vital signs. Utilize medical terminology and anatomy knowledge to explain procedures to patients effectively. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations while managing patient records and data. Provide exceptional customer service and support in a medical office setting. Collaborate with healthcare professionals to enhance patient care and streamline clinic operations. Maintain a clean and aseptic environment during examinations and procedures.
