Our ophthalmic technicians gather information from patients, take images, scribe information into patient charts, and help set up for exams and treatments. Our technicians report high levels of satisfaction with their roles because they get to help save people's sight each day. This is a great job for those interested in veterinary technician, medical assistant, behavioral technician, phlebotomist, radiology technician, and others. We will train the right candidates! Responsibilities Duties include, but are not limited to: Checking and performing calibration of technical ophthalmology screening instruments Obtaining patient physical history, to include chief complaint; reason for visit; pertinent signs and symptoms; current medication allergies; past ocular and general medical history both ocular and general; family history both ocular and general; social history; and review of medications and allergies, including current ocular prescription and non-prescription medications Accurately testing visual acuity at distance and near, with and without correction or with and without a pinhole Performing pupil evaluation recording pupil size, shape, symmetry, reaction to light and accommodation Performing external photographs and fundus photography Performing optical coherence tomography (OCT) of the posterior segment, retina and optic nerve Performing patient screening and triage of potentially urgent ocular conditions Educating patients and legal authorized representatives in eye care, including preoperative and postoperative instructions Other duties as assigned
