Job Description

We are acknowledged as one of the Gulf Coast's premier eye care physician groups. Since 1961 we've dedicated ourselves to building a tradition of excellence in eye care unparalleled in the area. Patients have given us the compliment of referring family and friends to our practice-their trust in us is an inspiration for our practice to continue to maintain our tradition of excellence. The groups medical expertise, which is available at five convenient locations, covers the spectrum of eye care and specialties including: routine eye exams, cataracts, glaucoma, corneal transplants, retina-vitreous care, pediatrics, laser vision correction, and plastic surgery of the eyelids. We are currently seeking a hardworking, motivated Ophthalmic Assistant. This role is based across two locations: Southwest and Southeast Houston. Regular travel between both locations is required. Monday -Friday, 8:15-5:15

Must be able to perform the following responsibilities: Promptly and professionally assists the doctor in patient care Communicates with patients regarding follow-up care, surgeries, procedures, changes in schedule, symptoms Maintains and cleans all equipment being used Returns phone calls to patients and pharmacies Assists in minor surgery Maintains patient confidentiality Efficiently and accurately interviews patients and documents histories Refractions Perform diagnostic testing, such as OCT, Visual Fields, Tear Osmolarity, Topography Scribe for Ophthalmologist Skills required Excellent computer skills Multi-tasking Bilingual is preferred but not required Excellent Communication skills Detail oriented Quick and efficient Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent Drivers License Minimum one year of experience as an Ophthalmic Assistant Must be willing to travel to other locations Must be willing to work outside of business hours
