Ophthalmic Technician Vista Eye Associates Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional patient care, assist with ophthalmic procedures, and support clinical operations within a busy optometry practice. This role offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment where technical skills and compassionate patient interaction are essential. The Ophthalmic Technician will play a vital role in ensuring accurate assessments, efficient clinic flow, and adherence to healthcare regulations, including HIPAA compliance. Responsibilities Conduct patient intake, including collecting medical histories and verifying insurance information Perform preliminary eye assessments and tests using specialized ophthalmic equipment Assist optometrists during examinations and procedures, ensuring proper aseptic technique Educate patients on treatment plans, eye care routines, and post-procedure instructions Maintain accurate medical records using EMR systems such as Epic and other electronic health records platforms Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality Support front desk operations including scheduling appointments and managing patient flow Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical areas following infection control protocols Support billing and coding processes related to ophthalmic services, ensuring accuracy for medical records Requirements Prior experience in ophthalmology/optometry or medical office settings preferred; clinic experience is a plus Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to eye care and pediatrics Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic or similar platforms Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and aseptic techniques for patient safety Excellent patient care skills with compassionate communication abilities Ability to perform intake procedures, take vital signs, and assist with clinical assessments accurately High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification or training in ophthalmic assisting is preferred This position offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute to patient health outcomes while working in a professional healthcare environment.
