Consistently utilizes and maintains supplies and equipment to minimize lost charges and unnecessary equipment repair-replacement.Confidentiality:
Adheres to established policies on privacy and security requirements for compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), as applicable by Shannon Policy.Performance:
Position Specific Essential Functions Greets patients in a professional, service-oriented manner; weighs patients; takes patient vital signs, including temperature, pulse, and blood pressure; Takes patient histories and documents information in medical charts; Educates patients on ophthalmic-related topics, including pre-op instructions; provides written information and answering basic inquiries, as appropriate. Performs a variety of basic tests using ophthalmic equipment or instruments such as lensometers, phoropters, auto refractors, applanation tonometers, A-Scan, and comeal graph computer; records test results in patient charts; Reads prescriptions in glasses; Administers topical medications or diagnostic drugs as required by the doctor for testing or treatment; Calls in prescriptions to appropriate pharmacies in an accurate and timely manner; Provides information concerning glasses and CTL prescriptions to optical shops, in accordance with instructions or procedures. Performs a variety of tasks while assisting physician with treatments or procedures performed in office/clinic; assists doctor in operating room by passing instruments and performing other functions, as directed; Sets up equipment used by physician during office visits; completes hospital forms for surgery patients; Prepares rooms for examinations; ensures examination rooms are stocked with necessary supplies and equipment; orders supplies and medications; Sets up cell counting equipment in accordance with procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education Required High School Diploma, GED, or equivalentExperience:
Preferred At least one year of experience in aMedical Office Certification/Licensure:
Required Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Must obtain within sixty (60) days of start dateLocation:
