Our services have included surgical, clinical and research. As part of our continued growth Berkeley Eye Center has made a significant commitment to expanding our involvement in research studies. This commitment has led to the creation of the Clinical Studies Technician position. Under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator and Clinical Research Coordinator, this staff member will perform assigned activities related to clinical research studies and assist with routine clinical exams. The ideal candidate will be an experienced ophthalmic assistant, highly driven, self-motivated and eager to work both independently as well as be part of a dynamic team. Candidate should have the ability to evaluate a patient's medical record for eligibility and recruitment. Candidate must have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Must be reliable, detail oriented, have advanced organizational and planning skills as well as be people-oriented. Must have the ability to assist with multiple projects and manage time effectively. Must be flexible and have an understanding that their job description and responsibilities can change as the role is developed. Job tasks will include but not be limited to:

• Review of patient's records to screen for eligibility
• Call potential patients to discuss study
• Schedule/ Reschedule appointments for study patients
• Prepare patient charts
• Assist with input of clinical exams into EDC
• Assist with clinical exams as needed
• Assist with collection of required paperwork
• Correspond with PCPs as necessary
• Assist with end of study paperwork Expected schedule will be 60% Studies/40% Clinical Exams BEC offers a competitive wage & benefits package for full-time employees.

Berkeley Eye Center has 26 clinics, 3 surgery centers and an optical manufacturing lab in the Greater Houston Area & Corpus Christi, providing a wide range of vision care services including routine vision exams, outpatient cataract and retina surgery, LASIK, Optical and much more.
