  • Full-time Esthetics, Cosmetology, Spa, or Medical Office Experience Preferred Drs.
Bare, Basic & Rohm Optometrists is seeking a professional, detail-oriented individual to join our busy Charlottesville optometry practice as an Optometric Technician . This position is primarily a clinical optometric technician role, with a meaningful hands-on role in our advanced dry eye treatment program. It may be a strong fit for someone with a background or interest in esthetics, cosmetology, skin care, spa services, medical spa work, optometry, ophthalmology, medical assisting, or hands-on patient care . Our dry eye treatment program includes in-office technologies such as IPL, radiofrequency, medical-grade red light therapy/LLLT, and NuLids lid cleaning . These treatments are used to help patients with dry eye disease, meibomian gland dysfunction, ocular rosacea, eyelid inflammation, and related symptoms. About the Role Most days will include traditional optometric technician responsibilities such as preparing patients for eye exams, performing preliminary testing, documenting symptoms and medical history, and helping maintain patient flow in a busy clinical setting. In addition, the right candidate will be trained to take an active role in dry eye treatment visits. This may include preparing patients for treatment, reviewing treatment instructions, performing RF treatments, setting up medical-grade red light therapy/LLLT, performing NuLids lid cleaning, and performing IPL on appropriate facial areas as directed by the doctor. The doctor remains directly involved in the treatment visit, including eye-area treatment and meibomian gland expression. The technician's role is to help manage the treatment flow, perform delegated treatment steps, educate patients, and create a comfortable, professional treatment experience. This is not a full-time esthetics or spa position. Treatment volume can vary from week to week. Some weeks the dry eye treatment role may be a prominent part of the schedule; other weeks the role may be more heavily focused on traditional optometric technician duties. We are looking for someone who can succeed in both areas. About Our Practice Drs. Bare, Basic & Rohm Optometrists is a busy, well-established eye care practice located in Charlottesville, VA. Our office provides comprehensive eye care as well as advanced in-office treatment for dry eye disease, meibomian gland dysfunction, ocular rosacea, and eyelid-related inflammation. Our office has been recognized in Best of C-VILLE from 2021-2025 , and we are known for providing friendly, thorough, patient-centered care.

This role may be a strong fit for someone with experience in: Esthetics or skin care Cosmetology Spa or medical spa work Optometry or ophthalmology Medical assisting Hands-on patient or client care Fast-paced customer service in a professional setting Esthetics or skin-care experience is helpful because part of the role involves IPL, radiofrequency, red light therapy/LLLT, skin preparation, patient comfort, and treatment flow. However, this is still a medical eye care position, and the candidate must also be comfortable learning traditional optometric technician duties. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Strong communication skills Professional, dependable, and compassionate Comfortable working directly with patients Detail-oriented and able to follow clinical protocols Comfortable using computers and electronic health records Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment Comfortable with hands-on patient care and treatment-related responsibilities Willing to learn new clinical technology and treatment workflows Preferred Qualifications Esthetics, cosmetology, spa, or medical spa experience Optometric or ophthalmic technician experience Medical office experience Experience with patient education or treatment coordination Interest in eye care, dry eye treatment, skin health, eyelid health, or medical technology Strong comfort level with hands-on procedures and patient interaction Schedule Full-time position.
