In this vital role, you will provide exceptional patient care by assisting ophthalmologists with clinical procedures, managing patient intake, and ensuring smooth clinic operations. Your expertise in ophthalmic techniques and medical office procedures will help deliver high-quality eye care services while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations. This position offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about eye health, eager to grow their skills in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment. Duties Greet patients warmly and efficiently manage patient intake processes, including collecting medical histories and verifying insurance information Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen saturation to assist in comprehensive eye assessments Prepare patients for examinations by performing basic ophthalmic tests, including visual acuity assessments and intraocular pressure measurements Assist ophthalmologists during examinations and procedures, ensuring proper aseptic technique and instrument handling Maintain accurate medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, documenting all patient interactions thoroughly Support clinic operations by managing front desk responsibilities, scheduling appointments, and handling patient inquiries with professionalism Conduct optical experiences like lens fitting and frame adjustments while providing excellent retail sales support to enhance patient satisfaction Uphold HIPAA compliance standards to protect patient confidentiality at all times and ensure secure handling of medical records and billing information Collaborate with team members on medical coding and billing processes to facilitate efficient reimbursement workflows Educate patients on eye health, medication instructions, and post-procedure care, especially in pediatrics or specialized fields like ophthalmology Qualifications Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification or equivalent credential required Prior experience in ophthalmology or medical office settings strongly preferred Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to eye health and vision care Familiarity with EMR systems such as Epic or similar platforms used for documentation and scheduling Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach toward diverse populations including pediatrics Ability to perform clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, conducting visual tests, and maintaining aseptic technique Basic retail math skills for optical sales support and inventory management Experience with medical coding and billing processes is a plus but not mandatory Join us to make a difference in patients' lives through compassionate eye care!
