Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing exceptional patient care and supporting the optometric practice's daily operations. As an Optometric Technician, you will assist with various tasks that enhance the patient experience and ensure efficient clinic workflow. Duties Perform preliminary eye exams and tests, including visual acuity assessments and tonometry. Assist the optometrist during examinations by preparing patients and documenting medical histories. Manage patient flow and ensure timely appointments by coordinating schedules effectively. Maintain accurate medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Handle front desk responsibilities, including greeting patients, answering phones, and managing inquiries. Process insurance claims and assist with medical coding as needed. Educate patients on proper contact lens care and eyewear options. Support retail sales by recommending products based on patient needs and preferences. Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the examination rooms and office areas. Skills The ideal candidate will possess a combination of the following skills: Experience in retail sales or a strong understanding of retail math principles. Familiarity with front desk operations in a medical office setting. Knowledge of medical records management and coding practices. Proficiency in using electronic health record systems such as Epic. Understanding of HIPAA regulations to maintain patient confidentiality. Background in ophthalmology or optometry is highly desirable. Strong communication skills to effectively interact with patients and team members. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
