In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing exceptional patient care and supporting the overall efficiency of our optometry practice. You will be responsible for assisting with patient intake, performing preliminary examinations, and ensuring the smooth operation of the clinic. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for helping others and a background in, or open to learn, medical office procedures . We prioritize providing patients with a positive experience through kindness, compassion, and high standards of eye care. Responsibilities Conduct patient intake by gathering medical history and relevant information. Measure and record vital signs, ensuring accurate documentation. Assist in performing preliminary eye exams and diagnostic tests. Maintain aseptic technique and adhere to HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality. Manage optical inventory and assist patients with frame selection. Utilize EMR systems to maintain accurate medical records. Provide support at the front desk, including scheduling appointments and handling patient inquiries when needed. Collaborate with the doctor and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care. Educate patients on proper eye care practices and post-examination instructions. Provide a friendly and welcoming experience for our patients. Skills Strong patient care skills with a focus on empathy and communication. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and medical terminology. Experience in intake procedures and recording vital signs. Knowledge of aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment. Previous optical experience or familiarity with optometry is preferred. Proficiency in EMR systems is advantageous. Understanding of physiology, anatomy, and retail math concepts related to optical sales. Experience in medical billing, coding, or managing medical records is beneficial. Ability to work effectively in a clinic setting with pediatric patients is a plus. Retail sales experience is desirable for assisting patients with eyewear selections.
