Job Description

At Colonial Eye Care, our clinical team plays a critical role in both the patient experience and the accuracy of care. We're looking for an Optometric Technician / Scribe who thrives in a fast-paced environment, pays close attention to detail, and takes pride in supporting both patients and doctors at a high level. This role combines patient interaction, technical skill, and real-time documentation , making it ideal for someone who is both people-focused and highly organized. What You'll Do (and Why It Matters) This role is the bridge between the patient and the doctor , ensuring that each exam is efficient, accurate, and seamless.
You will:
Gather detailed patient history, including chief complaint, medical history, and medications Perform pre-testing using advanced diagnostic equipment (OCT, retinal imaging, visual fields, etc.) Educate patients on procedures in a clear, confident, and compassionate way Scribe in real time during exams, accurately documenting findings for the doctor Maintain smooth patient flow and anticipate next steps throughout the visit Prepare exam rooms and ensure all equipment is clean, stocked, and ready Assist with contact lens training and patient education Communicate effectively with doctors, team members, and outside offices to support patient care Take ownership of your workspace, supplies, and clinical equipment Who You Are You are detail-oriented, fast-paced, and people-focused—with a strong sense of ownership in your work.
You likely:
