Optometric Assistant

Job Summary:

Part-Time Technician needed for an independent optometry practice in Oconomowoc, WI. Must be enthusiastic with excellent people skills, have a passion for customer service and be eager to learn.

Responsibilities:

Assisting with patient care and eye examinations. Taking patient histories, and current medications. Explaining the testing process to patients, preparing them, and administering tests on visual capabilities. Keeping records and inventory, and taking notes during examinations. Performing minor repairs on broken or damaged glasses. Lens verification with lensometry. Use of diagnostic instruments (i.e. lensometers, keratometers, and ophthalmometry) in order to assist the optometrist on staff. Additional duties may be assigned as needed (i.e. customer calls, dispensing eyewear, etc.). Potentially assist in patient check outs and collection of payments.

Skills & Requirements:

Computer proficiency necessary. Excellent customer service skills. Ability to explore the needs & priorities of customers by asking open ended questions with attention to details. Takes pride in store appearance, shows initiative to keep store clean, attractive, & organized. A high school diploma or equivalent. Self-motivation, and ability to work under pressure.
