Job Description

Job Summary Join our dynamic ophthalmology team as an Ophthalmic Assistant, where your enthusiasm and expertise will directly enhance patient care and vision health. In this vital role, you will support ophthalmologists by performing clinical and administrative tasks that ensure smooth clinic operations. Your energetic approach will help create a welcoming environment for patients of all ages, including pediatrics, while maintaining the highest standards of safety and confidentiality. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in a fast-paced medical setting dedicated to improving sight and quality of life. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly, verify their identity, and efficiently manage intake processes to ensure accurate medical records and appointments Measure vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and oxygen saturation to assist in comprehensive patient assessments Prepare examination rooms using aseptic techniques to uphold infection control standards during eye exams and procedures Assist ophthalmologists with diagnostic tests, including visual acuity assessments, refraction, and other optical evaluations using specialized equipment Maintain detailed medical records in electronic health record (EHR) systems like Nextech or other EMR platforms, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations Educate patients on eye health, treatment plans, and medication instructions while demonstrating excellent patient care skills Experience Prior experience in a medical office environment or clinic setting is preferred, especially within ophthalmology or optometry practices but not required Knowledge of anatomy and physiology related to the eye and visual system enhances patient interactions and technical proficiency Experience with optical equipment or optical experience can be a valuable asset for assisting with eye exams and measurements Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations ensures patient privacy and data security are maintained at all times Retail sales experience or front desk skills contribute to excellent patient service and efficient clinic operations Ability to handle multiple responsibilities with professionalism while demonstrating enthusiasm for helping patients improve their vision

From $16.00 per hour
