Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in ophthalmology, patient care, and medical procedures, with the ability to support ophthalmologists in delivering exceptional eye care services. As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will be responsible for performing diagnostic tests, assisting with patient intake, and ensuring accurate medical records management while maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive patient intake, including gathering medical history and explaining procedures clearly. Measure vital signs and perform preliminary assessments to support ophthalmologists during examinations. Assist with diagnostic testing such as visual acuity assessments, intraocular pressure measurements, and slit-lamp examinations. Maintain aseptic technique during procedures to prevent infection and ensure patient safety. Operate optical equipment and EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic to document patient information accurately. Support front desk activities by scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and managing patient flow efficiently. Uphold HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient confidentiality and handling medical records with care. Provide exceptional patient care by addressing questions, ensuring comfort, and explaining post-procedure instructions clearly. Qualifications Prior experience in ophthalmology or medical office settings is highly preferred. Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology related to eye health. Familiarity with optical devices, diagnostic tools, and EMR systems such as Epic is essential. Excellent skills in patient care, including taking vital signs and supporting intake processes. Understanding of aseptic techniques and infection control protocols within a clinical environment. Experience with medical billing, coding, and retail sales or retail math is advantageous. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinic setting while maintaining attention to detail. Knowledge of pediatrics is a plus for supporting diverse patient populations.
