Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Lead Optician / Optical Lead to join our clinic team. The ideal candidate will assist patients with selecting eyewear and support our provider in delivering exceptional eye care services. This position is ideal for a candidate who thrives in fast-paced, team-oriented environments. Candidates with experience in optometry, ophthalmology, or customer service are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities Assist patients in selecting frames & lenses. Accurately measure and adjust eyewear, ensuring a perfect fit. Interpret optical prescriptions written by optometrists. Verify insurance eligibility and explain eyewear benefits to patients. Perform routine checks and maintenance on optical equipment. Educate patients on eyewear care and maintenance. Operate the lab edger to cut and fit lenses according to precise specifications. Verify prescription lenses prior to dispensing. Collect any out of pocket expenses associated with optical orders. Schedule follow up appointments within our clinic and with external providers. Qualifications Prior experience in an optical setting is preferred. Experience with customer service or retail sales preferred. ABO and/or NCLE preferred. Experience with vision insurance and third party payers. High school diploma or equivalent; further education is a plus. Skills Knowledge of optometry practices, medical terminology, and anatomy related to the eye is a plus. Familiarity with EHR systems and insurance payer websites preferred. Strong customer service and communication skills required. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security. Ability to work efficiently within a team environment while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
Pay:
