Job Description

We are seeking a skilled, patient-focused Optician to join our private practice. In this role, you will provide personalized styling, precise measurements, and expert lens consultations to deliver high-quality eyewear. The ideal candidate blends technical expertise—including frame adjustments, lab production, and troubleshooting—with a warm, collaborative approach to patient care.
Key Responsibilities Patient Styling & Consultation:
Guide patients through frame selection with an eye for style, facial structure, and proper fit. Educate patients on premium lens designs, materials, and coatings (e.g., progressive lenses, anti-reflective coatings, digital lenses).
Precise Measurements:
Take accurate optical measurements, including pupillary distance (PD), fitting heights, and segment heights to ensure optimal lens performance.
Optical Lab & Finishing:
Manage job ordering, inspect incoming jobs for prescription accuracy (neutralizing lenses via lensometer), and perform in-office finishing, edging, mounting, and bench alignments as needed.
Dispensing & Adjustments:
Custom-fit and adjust eyewear upon delivery for maximum comfort and visual clarity. Troubleshoot patient adaptation issues with patience and technical expertise.
Frame Board Management:
Assist in curated frame buying, inventory management, and maintaining clean, attractive optical displays that reflect our practice's aesthetic.
Cross-Functional Support:
Collaborate closely with the Optometrist and cross-trained optometric technicians to ensure a seamless patient flow from pre-testing to final checkout.
Qualifications & Skills Experience:
Proven experience as an optician (experience in an independent private practice or full-service finishing lab is a major plus).
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with lensometry, manual frame adjustments, repair tools, and optical billing/vision insurance verification (VSP, EyeMed, etc.).
Interpersonal Skills:
Exceptional communication skills, a detail-oriented mindset, and a genuine passion for personalized customer service.
