Optician (Part-Time)

Optician - Allendale Eye Care (Allendale, MI) Allendale Eye Care is a busy, community-focused optometry practice in Allendale, MI with a strong emphasis on eye health and dry eye care . We're looking for a Part-Time Optician to join our optical team as we grow. ABO certification is a plus, but not required. If you're experienced in optical and love helping patients feel confident and cared for, you'll fit right in. Responsibilities Provide a friendly, high-trust patient experience in optical from start to finish Assist patients with frame and lens selection based on lifestyle, prescription needs, and budget Educate patients on lens options (progressives, anti-fatigue, AR coatings, photochromic, polarized sun, etc.) Take accurate measurements (PD, seg height, OC, etc.) and ensure order accuracy Place orders, verify deliveries, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate remakes when needed Adjust and repair eyewear for comfort and optimal vision Maintain an organized, clean, and presentation-ready optical area Work collaboratively with doctors, technicians, and front desk to keep patient flow smooth Qualifications Optical experience preferred (private practice or retail optical) Strong communication skills and a patient-first mindset Detail-oriented with measurements and order accuracy Reliable, team-oriented, and comfortable in a fast-paced environment Willingness to learn and grow (we provide training) Nice to have ABO certification (not required) Experience with vision insurance (VSP, EyeMed, Spectera, etc.) Experience with optical/EHR software (Compulink is a plus) Benefits Free eye exam Benefit allowance on glasses PTO Roth IRA contribution match
