Job Description
Scarbrough Family Eyecare is seeking a friendly, motivated, and detail-oriented Optician to join our team in Traverse City. We are a busy, family-focused optometry practice dedicated to providing exceptional patient care and helping our patients see their best. As an Optician, you will work directly with patients to select eyewear, recommend lens options, and ensure every patient receives outstanding service from start to finish. Responsibilities Assist patients in selecting eyeglass frames and sunglasses Design customized lens packages based on patient needs and lifestyle Verify and interpret eyeglass prescriptions Order frames, lenses, and contact lenses Submit vision insurance orders (VSP, EyeMed, and other plans) Communicate with optical laboratories regarding orders and troubleshooting Dispense completed eyewear and educate patients on proper use and care Adjust, repair, and troubleshoot eyeglasses Assist with inventory management and merchandising Work collaboratively with doctors and staff to provide an outstanding patient experience Qualifications Previous Optician experience preferred Retail sales and customer service experience preferred Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment Attention to detail and accuracy Positive attitude and willingness to learn ABO Certification is a plus, but not required Schedule Full-Time or Part-Time positions available Flexible scheduling options available Benefits One free pair of glasses or sunglasses each year Employee discounts on glasses, sunglasses, and contact lenses 1 week paid vacation after 90 days 2 weeks paid vacation after 2 years 5 paid sick days per year after 90 days Matching IRA contributions up to 3% Major medical insurance available with up to $350/month employer contribution toward premiums Paid time off Flexible schedule Supportive team environment
