This role assists opticians, optometrists, and patients by coordinating patient services, managing eyewear orders, maintaining inventory, and delivering an exceptional customer experience. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about helping patients receive high-quality vision care. Key Responsibilities Greet and assist patients in a friendly, professional manner. Schedule appointments and maintain accurate patient records. Process eyewear orders and communicate with optical laboratories to ensure timely delivery. Inspect completed eyewear for accuracy and quality before dispensing. Adjust, repair, and perform basic maintenance on eyeglasses. Maintain inventory of optical supplies. Keep the optical dispensary clean, organized, and well-stocked. Educate patients on eyewear care, contact lens care, warranty information, and product features. Process payments and maintain accurate financial transactions. Collaborate with opticians, optometrists, and other staff to ensure a seamless patient experience. Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and company policies regarding patient confidentiality. QualificationsRequired High school diploma or equivalent. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn practice management software. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Professional appearance and positive attitude. Preferred Previous experience in an optical practice, healthcare office, or retail environment. Knowledge of vision and optical terminology. Experience with electronic health records (EHR) or optical management systems. ABO certification or willingness to obtain certification (if applicable). Work Environment This position is based in an optical clinic. The Optical Support Specialist works closely with patients and clinical staff in a professional, patient-focused environment.
